“We haven’t met (to discuss the issue), but chances are that he will never play for Satmos again. Yes, he is owed two months’ salary but that is not how you go about recovering your money. His act went to the extent of embarrassing his team,” Satmos chairperson, Monnakgotla Mojaki said yesterday.

He said they did not expect such behaviour from the former Nico United player as they had addressed the issue with him and the rest of the squad.

“He stays in a club house, we don’t expect this from him. He came to the office to talk to me and (Mooketsi) ‘China’ (Mading). We told him about our position and that we were trying our best to assist them. The truth is, the (BCL) mine is struggling and we are also struggling, but we promised to address their issues. We are shocked and disappointed that he resorted to taking the kit. You don’t resolve issues that way,” Mojaki said.

Meanwhile, hooliganism returned to rear its ugly head when skirmishes broke out between rival Township Rollers and Extension Gunners supporters in the weekend’s headline fixture in Lobatse.

The Botswana Premier League (BPL) had promised to end such ugly scenes after the same fans clashed three seasons ago, but seemingly no new lessons were learnt.

Dozens of fans were injured at the end of what was a chaotic beMOBILE Premiership match with hundreds of fans stuck in traffic.  Efforts to get a comment from BPL chief executive officer, Bennett Mamelodi were futile at press time.

Away from the drama off the pitch, Rollers cemented their position at the top, maintaining a two point lead over nearest rivals, Orapa United.

Defending champions, Mochudi Centre Chiefs lost ground in the title chase as they fell four points behind, after a 1-1 draw with Police XI.

Orapa kept up the pressure with a 3-0 victory over Motlakase Power Dynamos to move to 55 points, two behind Rollers.

The kit drama proved a good omen for Satmos as they registered their first win of the season after 25 games. The Cheetahs pummeled Nico 4-2, but still remain firmly rooted at the bottom and firm favourites for an early drop.

The bottom three, Satmos, Motlakase and BR Highlanders all look destined for the chop barring dramatic changes in the last five games.

The league takes a break this weekend as it is FIFA international date.
