Tickets for the event are sold at P300 and the profits will be geared towards helping the vulnerable children in rural areas.

In an interview with Showbiz, the founder of the event, Babui Nyepetsi, said apart from wine and food, there would be entertainment from Mophato Dance Theatre.

Nyepetsi said she came up with the idea last year when she was working with Nayang Association in response to Matsha tragedy.

“We started thinking about ways of raising funds when we were exposed to abject poverty in rural areas,” she said.

Nyepetsi said the actual poverty is in the rural areas, hence she and others saw it fit to raise funds and help out the children in these areas.

“We need to donate to these families so we are hoping that The Sole Food Event will raise enough money so that we could donate to the poor,” she said.

Nyepetsi said organisers of the Soul Food Event intended to change lives.

So, people should come forward to support the event. She said they have already identified the families they want to donate to.

“We are not going to expose the families because we want to protect them,” she said. Nyepetsi said they would sell 200 tickets only because they want to maximise the profit.
