In an interview with Showbiz, Boy Simba said the single is about a heart breaker. “It’s also based on both personal and observational experience,” he said. He said he wants people to understand the music that he does and how it differs with what is already there. Boy Simba said his music is more conscious and expressive.

The young man from Senete said he discovered his love for hip-hop music at a very young age. He recorded his first demo at the age of 13 in 2007. “I didn’t know what I was doing at the time,” recalled the 22 year old. “What mattered to me was the passion I had for music.”

In 2013 Boy Simba made it to the semi-finals of My African Dream (MAD)talent search. He said the opportunity was a door opener for him and he gained recognition from people and other famous musicians. “In 2014, I auditioned again for my MAD and this time I made it to the finals, but unfortunately I didn’t win,” he said.

Last year Boy Simba said he registered a music studio called Hyper Soul Production Studio, which he co-owns with his mentor and producer Jay E.

“I am trying to take hip hop to a higher level,” he said. “I will continue to discover new ideas in pursuit of my personal musical vision.”
