BTC directory cover design to be unveiled today

The winner is likely to be one of the members of the Thapong Centre for the Arts because the competition was restricted to Thapong members only. 

The winning design will be used for the BTC 2010 Telephone Directory cover, for which the winning artist will receive P20, 000.

Hotwire, the company responsible for BTC communications and public relations (PR), yesterday could not reveal the winner, but said only one prize will be awarded tonight at the Botswana Craft.

According to a press release from BTC and Thapong, the cover design should showcase, 'the advanced technological services and products offered by BTC to the business community, Botswana's position as a potential centre for future Southern African Development Community (SADC) and international developments, Botswana's vibrant and developing economic landscape, the technological services and products offered by BTC, and how they impact on the society such as domestic use and business and the vibrancy that BTC services and products provide to the economy of Botswana'.

It is the first time that a local organisation has run its design competition in partnership with Thapong Arts Centre. The current BTC Directory's cover was designed by one Rebecca de Figueiredo.
A total of 59 artists submitted.
