BPL meets to decide season fate

Football activities were suspended in March in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and despite the government lifting a seven-week lockdown recently, it is unclear whether or not the season would be completed.
A committee appointed by BFA, recommended that the season be declared null and void as it was going to be a challenge to return to the pitch.
BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti had earlier hinted on the season being concluded. The BFA wants to change the football calendar to the February to November season, which would allow time to finish the current season, as the new campaign would only start next year February if the proposal sails through.
Letshwiti told Mmegi Sport this week that there has been no decision regarding the season.
“There has been no decision made. We are to meet the BPL to consult or solicit their thinking and refer to our medical report for the final verdict. It is about lives. Anything that compromises the health of the players is a no go area,” Letshwiti said.
A decision would also be made on the First Division season, and ultimately, is expected to affect all football activities.
The government allows limited training, with non-contact sport closer to return, but football could still be a long way off.
