Some clubs have expressed misgivings about BFA’s consultative process, after the mother body asked for opinions on the football season.

TAFIC chairperson, Carlos Sebina argued the process was worthless as their input might be ignored.

But Mfolo told Mmegi Sport that getting the clubs’ input was critical to make an informed decision.

“This (process) was not necessarily a vote but a consultative process. It is important for (the) NEC to make an informed decision by consulting its structures,” Mfolo said.

“The same dispensation, an adhoc team led by the BFA medical committee, submitted their report. It is therefore wise to make research and consider all the variables when making a decision.”

Botswana Premier League chairperson, Seiphetho Sefhako also said it was important to consult, even if the final decision lies with the BFA NEC.

“It is a democratic process to get views of the many, even if it does not necessarily mean you will get your way. We always have different views, some are okay with it (consultation), while others are sceptical,” Sefhako said.

He admitted the outbreak of the COVID-19 poses a threat to local football. The Miscellaneous chairperson said they would keep their fingers crossed that a solution is found before the start of the next season.
