BancABC supports BSE listings conference

The conference, which has attracted 120 private-held companies, aims to bring together the business community, private-held companies, listed companies and experts in the capital market to discuss the value add of listing on the stock exchange.

The one-day conference will be held under the theme, ‘Opening the BSE to the Business Community- Creating Value Through Listing’.

According to BancABC regional head of Corporate Investment Banking (CIB), Grace Setlhare-Mankanku the sponsorship is a testament to their commitment to servicing the Botswana business community, particularly through their robust CIB.

“At BancABC, we believe in the varied aspirations of our clients and see ourselves as an integral component of their success. We pride ourselves in our ability to provide our clients with accessible and agile financial solutions that propel their growth thus bringing them closer to their ambitions,” said Setlhare-Mankanku.

As one of the most vibrant stock exchanges in Southern Africa and averaging 24 percent aggregate return in the past decade, the BSE plays host to companies doing business in Botswana.

“The companies represent a spectrum of industries and commerce, from banking and financial services to wholesaling and retailing, tourism and information technology,” she added.

The conference is expected to gather private companies, listed companies and experts in capital markets to discuss market capitalisation and the value added to a private company by listing on a stock exchange. The conference will comprise various panel discussions, presentations that underpin the importance of listing for optimising capital and structural growths of business.

BSE CEO, Thapelo Tsheole has said they intend to incubate companies that can potentially list in the short, medium to long term by availing necessary expertise and conduits that can help them list on the stock exchange.

“The conference intends to avail platform for listed companies to share lessons on how they created value through listing and how they leveraged on their listing to expand their services and products offerings to markets outside Botswana,” he said.
