Boys’ spokesperson, Tshiamo Maseko told Mmegi Sport they have only learnt from other teams about the accusations against their player, Omphile Sebolai. He said they have not received a formal complaint from the First Division League committee on the issue or Lesirane FC and Black Rangers, their last two opponents.

Maseko said the allegation was that their player featured in two matches while on successive yellow cards. He said they were still waiting for evidence on the claims. First Division South chairperson, Sam Keitireng was unavailable for comment, but an official within the league committee confirmed two protests from Lesirane and Rangers have been received. He said Boys are yet to be officially notified as match officials’ records are been analysed.

He said the committee was yet to seek advice from the Botswana Football Association (BFA) legal advisor. He said they do not want to be seen as being biased when they take a decision. The intention is for the matter to be dealt with next week. The official requested anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to the press.

Meanwhile, Black Forest coach, Murphy Maseko, said there was no need to press panic buttons after they surrender the log’s leadership.

He said they stand a good chance of winning the league. Forest have accumulated 29 points after their 1-1 draw with Notwane over the weekend. Maseko said their strikers are off-form particularly keyman, Sinare Sadat. “The postponement of our game against Rangers was a set back,” he said. “We are now playing under pressure. We could be level with Boys or above them because we score more goals than them.”

Maseko said it was difficult for some players to understand the situation and even when counselled they do not accept.

He said tomorrow they are taking the war to Modipane United where a new striker from Kazungula FC would play. The striker is still young and did not play against Notwane and Sharps as a way of protecting him. The decision not to play him was due to the two teams’ experienced defenders and they did not want to expose him. Maseko said he would not be using Sadat as he is sitting on two yellow cards.
