Motorsport faces BNSC censure over AGM

BNSC chairperson, Solly Reikeletseng told Mmegi Sport yesterday that it was prescribed in every affiliates’ constitution that they would hold a general meeting annually.

He said the meeting serves as a platform where issues concerning the affiliates are discussed and new leadership chosen.

“We do not know of anything about the BMS having not held their meeting, however we will investigate and would call them to explain themselves.

This is a cause for concern because the provision of an AGM is there in their constitution. Failure to hold the meeting means they are in breach of the constitution,” Reikeletseng said.

He said after the investigations are complete, the mother body would take action if any wrong-doing is found.

“We (BNSC) are the regulatory body and we are the financier, so if you do not hold such meetings which are essential for the association this shows that you do not need our money,” he said.

The BMS constitution states that the executive committee should call for a meeting between August 1 and September 30 every each year. The association’s executive committee has been under fire since they were elected into office.

Affiliates accuse the committee of failure to effectively communicate with affiliates. In a recent interview, BMS vice president administration, David Mash, said the AGM would be held in April, but the date has not been confirmed.
