Leshie Lovesong goes all out

“You are reluctant like the Botswana rain that leads us on; I do not see the universe unfolding in your eyes; I’m not the kind of script you send back for re-edits,” recited Leshie Lovesong as she recited one of the poems titled Fine Print.

While reciting her various poems such as Monster, The Floor and Moving In Together Leshie Lovesong had contemporary dancers on stage that performed theatrical dance moves that were inline with her pieces.

The emotional poetry pieces were infused with live music.

At some point she got emotional and shed some tears. She also mixed poetry with musical acts.

The emotional poems also carried some humor, with the notable line on the poem titled Moving Together being. “Few rules on moving in together, find the red dress his lover left find yourself one fold it and put it next to lover’s dress.

Remind him that mirrors are aggressive like black cats”.

On the second set of her performance she maintained strong stage presence. This time around she was jollier as she performed a number of songs such as Rain In The Womb, Dinaledi, Awaken My Dreams and Itlhokomele.

Veteran instrumentalist, Lekofi Sejeso added more impetus while performing Itlhokomele with his rich piano expertise.

The band provided a sound with a fusion of music genres such as Soul, Contemporary, Funk and Jazz music.

Upon performing her last song for the night titled Awaken Me the audience, which comprised of the likes of Samantha Mogwe and TJ Dema gave her standing ovation, showing that they truly enjoyed her performance.
