Satmos ship heading for the iceberg

FC Satmos are yet to win a match this season. They have conceded 56 goals, 14 against log leaders, Township Rollers alone. Just two seasons ago, the Selebi-Phikwe side finished sixth in the league. The following season they survived through a play-off, sending Notwane to their first ever appearance in the lower division.

This season, they struggled from the beginning. Their situation was not helped by the fact that they could not use Zimbabwean striker, Sadiki Takunda, who helped them survive relegation last season. Takunda was at the centre of a wrangle regarding his registration. He has since joined BDF XI.

On Saturday, Satmos found Rollers in a mean mood once again with the battle for the league championship also getting interesting. Segolame Boy came back from a long lay-off to score four goals.

He has now scored eight goals against Satmos this season. Boy was on target four times in the first round when Rollers walloped them 9-1 in Molepolole. Satmos remain rooted at the bottom.

Other relegation candidates, Motlakase Power Dynamos also met a ruthless Jwaneng Galaxy and suffered an embarrassing 5-0 defeat in Jwaneng. They have collected 17 points so far, seven behind Green Lovers who occupy 13th spot.

BR Highlanders sit at position 14 with 17 points and a game in hand following the postponement of their fixture against Orapa United. Gilport Lions made a significant move up the ladder following their 1-0 win over BDF XI. They moved two places up and skipped both Sankoyo Bush Bucks and Green Lovers.

Meanwhile, Rollers retained their position at the top of the log standings after their big win over Satmos.

They have opened up a five-point lead at the top with seven games remaining. Chiefs are currently sitting at position two after their win against Miscellaneous. Orapa United dropped to position three with a game in hand after heavy rains forced the cancellation of their match against BR Highlanders.
