Mceeing becomes a career for Theo

This job plays an important role in such people’s everyday lives.

Even though this young talent did not plan or had never dreamt of being a Master of Ceremonies (MC) one day, he saw himself blowing the audience away with his talent when one of his friends asked him to rescue her after her hired MC’s failed her out. MC Theo said that was a blessing in disguise as his passion for that job was born at the time.

In an interview with Arts and Culture, he said he started Emceeing in 2017 at the mentioned friend’s event.

He pointed out that he got positive feedback from the audience.  That was when his journey in the entertainment world started. Surprisingly, he grew developed love for the career. More doors opened up for him and he became a well-established brand with time.

“I love events and was always inspired by how MC’s do their job. I look up to some of the great local MC’s locally in the likes of T.H.A.B.O, Sadi and others.

I am currently the resident MC at Sunday Ultimately Chill and I also did Gaabo Motho in Moshupa. I have also hosted The African Attire on Fleek and GMIC where I got popular by demand and received more love,” he explained.

MC Theo added that he believed his creativity, energy and confidence on stage work well for him. He also pointed out that normally, promoters book them from what they saw or heard about them.

He added that to get himself out there, he posted his work on social media where he also sells his merchandise.

However, just like other talents in the industry, this young man faces some challenges. For instance, things are not so rosy as he highlighted that there was a lot of sabotage saying the only way to beat it was by staying strong and focusing on what they really want and pay attention to it.

He further stated that the highlight of his career was when he hosted the GIMC alongside his role mode T.H.A.B.O where he pointed out that he had a great time and learnt a lot of things from him.

MC Theo said he sees his brand selling internationally where he will be showcasing his talent. He added that he was booked beyond local borders but Covid-19 disrupted his plans.

“I was the resident MC at Tlotlo Conference Hotel. The tag lines I always use that are loved by people are ‘Botshelo Wee,’ ‘O tlaa swa mosadi.’I have also been featured on a song by Team Distant called Botshelo Wee which is out and now playing on all radio stations,” he ended.
