With less than two days to go before the Hamptons Jazz Festival, various media houses have taken a decision to boycott the event.

Also the media blackout comes at a time when most followers declared their intention to ditch the festival.

The tide turned for the worst when the two parties failed to reach a mutual understanding in what was supposed to be a press conference held at The GrandPalm this morning.

The press conference could not go on because Smith demanded to address a group of journalists that attended last week’s press briefing where she made a rude statement.

She was quoted saying then, “This time around we are going to have a media centre because we had an issue last time where journalists finished all the food in the VIP and our clients were not happy about it”.

At this morning’s failed briefing, she went on to show her disregard and disrespect for the media when she demanded to address journalists on their feet.

“If you guys don’t want to solve this issue, I might as well call this thing off,” she threatened and would not offer any apology.

The press conference was supposed to also address a Facebook post that rubbed some fans the wrong way yesterday.

Following the offensive comment directed at fans on social media, she released a ‘vague’ apology on the Hamptons official Facebook page.

Meanwhile, the Botswana Media and Allied Workers Union is expected to issue a statement as events unfold.
