Murder suspects re-arrested after dramatic escape

The trio, two Zimbabweans, Xolane Sibanda (35), Boy Nxube (40) and a Motswana from Themashanga vilage,Thandanani Basumi (41) all males attacked and injured three police officers when being transported from Francistown prison to Masunga Magistrate’s Court on Friday. The Botswana Police Service’s (BPS) public relations officer, Senior Superintendent, Near Bagali confirmed the re-arrest in an interview with MmegiOnline.

He stated that the three are remands of murder, robbery, housebreaking and theft cases. 

'They escaped on Friday morning when being transported to Masunga Magistrate’s Court to appear for mention on the stipulated offences. We managed to re-arrest them on Saturday with the help of Zimbabwe police,' he said.

Bagali said the injured police officers are recuperating and they are all in stable condition.
