The group is made up of Themba Sekowe (Maphorisa), Nqobile Mahlanu (Mapiano), Sihle Dlalisisa (DJ Clap) and Xelimpilo Simelane (Xeli). They are mostly known for their smash hit Y-Tjukutja, released in 2013, a song that won them the best collaboration of the year at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2014.

The Kalawa Jamzee group have even produced Mafikizolo’s chart topping song Khona. The group is not new to the local circles having performed in shows like Spring Explosion before.

DJ Buckz who was featured in Uhuru’s certified club smash hit will also perform on the night. DJ Buckz is also known for producing a hit called Nyoso and he has even worked with Nigeria’s Davido. The man is adored for his Tswana lyrics and breathtaking dance moves, something that is appealing to the local fans.

To enhance the lineup, the most decorated musician in Botswana, Vee, will lead the acts of local artists.

The Letlhale hit-maker who has been working with Uhuru is expected to perform a new single at the launch. He will be alongside fellow Black Money Makers signed artist DJ Kutlwi.

People will get to see DJ Kutlwi doing her magic behind the decks rather than her usual moves on the dance floor. DJ Kutlwi is a dancer for Vee and is one of the hottest upcoming female DJs in Botswana. DJ Sly of RB2 will be also on the lineup.

In an interview with Showbiz, one of the show organizers Tebogo Nthoiwa said they had been running the club for sometime now and they will launch it officially with a rich lineup.

“The Lounge is re-branded from everything including the interior and the setup inside,” he said. Nthoiwa said they have enhanced security because the place was vulnerable to criminals in the past.

Nthoiwa said they have also increased the bouncers at the entrance so that everyone can feel at ease.

“Our marketing team has been working tirelessly to show people that Empire Lounge is the place,” he said. The launch will start at 7p.m.
