Some winners of the music category have been released, but well-known musicians are noticeably missing from their list. After releasing the nominees of group A category last week, FNBB finally announced the winners this week being Kgarebe Ya Setso with Chaba ya Lela song, Aniuz with Corona and Lucia Dottie with Social Distancing respectively.

The top three songs will be awarded first prize of P25,000 while second prize winner will get P15,000 and third prize is P10,000.

Under this music category there will be group A to D each week. Every group will get an opportunity to have their music play live on air back-to-back from Monday to Thursday between 9am to 10am and 3pm to 4pm on Yarona FM. Voting lines close every Thursday at 11.59pm.

Winners of the group B will be announced next week. Before being short-listed, artists had to record and submit songs that have an underlying message on the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides music, winners of other categories like photography have also been announced with Shabba Kgotlaetsho taking the big prize. Kgotlaetsho’s sponsorship is valued at P75,000 including production and payment of content used.

The winners of the literary arts category are Nikkita Neo Mokgware and Legodile Seganabeng. This is a category that required a facilitator to run a digital writer’s workshop. Following the workshop, the attendants will be entered into an essay competition that the facilitator will coordinate and adjudicate. The top five best essays will be rewarded with P5,000 each while the facilitator gets P10,000.

In the poetry category the winners are Bold Poetry and Jam N’ Soul. The two will be sponsored to produce two online poetry sessions each valued at P25,000. The theme of the poetry sessions will be ‘Impact of COVID-19 on the Creative Arts’ and the duration of the show should be two hours. Fashion category winners are Fashion Without Borders and Afri- Merit (Pty) Ltd.

The two are expected to engage an entity to create face masks for vulnerable communities. They will facilitate this project by calling on 10 fashion designers across Botswana to produce a total of 1,000 facemasks.  The successful entity will be given sponsorship funds valued at P50,000.

FNBB also announced nominees in the dance category and out of the eight shortlisted candidates, four successful choreographers will facilitate and host online dance tutorials valued at P8,500 each.

FNBB also announced nominees of the online music show and comedy, and the winners will be announced soon. FNBB issued a call for proposal in various categories in May to support COVID-19 social commentary, behavioural change, entertainment and public safety.
