Botswana Life Honour Top Sales Agents

The event, which was held under the theme ‘dinner with the stars, underneath the stars’ saw women dominating the list as the top three who brought in millions.

From the 20 agents, 17 of them were Botswana Life direct agents and three were broker agents.

The best performing Direct Agent had an Annual Premium Income (API) of P1.4 million whilst the best performing broker agent from Tishbo in Francistown brought in P1.1 million worth of business.

Speaking during the event, Botswana Life Chief Executive Officer Catherine Lesetedi-Letegele said the company was cognisant of the challenging world of sales where agents  -- more than most professionals -- had to deal with consistent negativity, rejection, disappointments, dead-end leads and false hopes.

“For every deal signed, there is a trail of broken hopes,” she said. “It’s tough out there and we know it. This is why it is not everyone who can be a great sales agent as it takes grit and self determination to make it.”

Lesetedi-Letegele said that was the reason they had to launch an ‘Achievers Club’ to celebrate their unceasing dedication, which has over the years propelled Botswana Life to achieve 80 percent of the market share of the local life insurance industry.

“It is your commitment that has enabled us to increase the financial security of more than two hundred thousand policyholders and pay out more than P1.2 billion in claims in 2015 alone and claims of P5 billion over the years,” she said.

She added that the commitment of the sales agents and brokers helped Botswana Life to remain relevant in the daily lives of Batswana and as the life insurer of choice.

Botswana Life has the largest sales distribution network in Botswana, with 900 agents: 600 of them as direct agents and the 300 as broker agents.

“It is a broad footprint in conjunction with innovative product development and visionary leadership that form part of comparative advantage in the inductive,” she said.

The top three broker companies in terms of API was Cover link with P8.3 million, followed by First Sun Alliance and Medvest Brokers Botswana with P7.18 million and P3.48 million respectively.
