This initiative, which was aimed at celebrating Choppies’ birthday month by giving back to the community, was first launched in 2003. Last year, the promotion ran from October, the month in which Choppies Group was founded, to  December.

As one of the  leading Orange retail partners, Choppies Group houses over 76 Orange kiosks in their stores across the country.

The Orange kiosks are outlets within Choppies stores where customers can complete Orange related transactions such as purchase of airtime, registration for Orange Money, sending and receiving of Orange Money to name but a few.

“These kiosks act as convenience points for our customers. This means that they don’t always have to drive to an Orange store to get assistance.

With 78 stores in Botswana, Choppies’ footprint is widely spread hence we are able to reach and take Orange services to a larger customer base including those in the rural areas through these kiosks,” says Orange PR and Foundation Manager Boga Chilinde-Masebu.

For this particular promotion, Orange customers had to purchase any of the available Orange products which include Orange Money sales, Orange airtime sales, Visa cards sales from Choppies and Devices to automatically be entered into the draw for the Chevrolet bakkie.

And last week, Gopolang Outule, an Orange customer from Kanye, was handed over the keys to his brand new Chevrolet bakkie courtesy of Orange and Choppies. Outule was amongst the 28 overall winners of the day who each received the keys and blue book to their brand new vehicles.

Speaking at the handover ceremony which was held at Northgate mall, Minister of Sports, Youth and Culture, Thapelo Olopeng commended Choppies Stores, Orange and other participating stakeholders on this significant annual Corporate Social Responsibility initiative

“This goes a long way in helping improve the lives of many Batswana, and is a commendable and much appreciated effort,” he said.

In closing, the Minister congratulated all the winners and urged them to be responsible in the use of their cars as well as to use them wisely to contribute to the improvement of their standard of living.
