Nare was appointed as Systems’ head coach in 2018 and has performed well, which has attracted rival suitors. In his first season, Systems finished seventh, before improving standings to fourth in the just ended campaign.

The charismatic tactician dropped a bombshell last week as he quit the club just two months after signing a two-year contract extension that was to be in effect from July 1.

“We are yet to know his reasons, he just sent his (resignation) letter through email. He also called the club president to bid farewell. We have not met him in person, so we cannot tell why he decided to quit,” Systems public relations officer, Zolani Kraai said.

“As it is a norm, we had thought he would come and sit down with us, probably resign in a proper manner. If there were queries, we would have ironed them out in a meeting, but he left just like that.”

Reports are that Systems had forfeited Nare’s one-month salary, which prompted the coach to leave. Kraai was, however, quick to refute the reports saying the club was looking forward to a longer future with the coach.

“Chico resigned just after he received his latest salary, that was paid on time. Those (about not being paid) are just rumours. Like I said, we are clueless of why he suddenly quit, we had just entered into a new contract with him and were looking forward to working with him for a longer period,” Kraai said.

Nare left Systems with goalkeeper coach, Kagiso Tshelametsi. The duo has since been linked with minnows, Morupule Wanderers as the future of Serbian coach, Dragojlo Stanolovic remains in the balance.

Chico, alongside former Jwaneng Galaxy’s Nikola Kavazovic are also said to be front-runners for the vacant head coach post at Township Rollers. Rollers president, Jagdish Shah told Mmegi Sport that the club was waiting for a decision on the start of the next season before making technical team appointments.

“All these are just rumours. We will discuss coach appointment after receiving confirmation of when the league is starting,” Shah briefly said.
