Poetic Blood debuts anthology of poems

Making the most out of the free time and the extreme social distancing, Lame Pusetso, popularly known as Poetic Blood, took to perfecting her craft and released her work.
Pusetso worked on an anthology of her poems during the April lockdown and released the poetry work at the end of the lockdown period in May.
The 23-year-old who hails from Hukuntsi is a spoken word poet, motivational speaker, author, poetry adjudicator and emcee.
She has been a poet for a greater portion of her life due in part to her father’s influence.
Pusetso’s father, who passed away in 2013, was a songwriter and guitarist that took time to indulge his daughter in the performing and literary arts, something that Pusetso credits for her interest in poetry and the success she amassed in the field.
Poetic Blood, as she is known, is the president of the Dare to Fly movement through which she aims to groom upcoming poets and afford them the opportunities to grow into their poetic identities.
Published by Kingdom Publishers, she says her anthology titled ‘Ocean of Untold Goodbyes’ resonates with the intention of the book, dedicated posthumously to her loving father.
She said some of the poems in the book are snippets of the conversations she had with her dad while he was still alive while others are poems that reflect her life.
“I have been a performing poet for a very long time and I have travelled to several countries in the past perfecting my art,” Pusetso said.
She said she has met other poets who have been helping her perfect her poetry like George Gumikiriza from Uganda whose work also features in her anthology and also wrote the foreword for the book.
Pusetso said she met Gumikiriza when she attended a poetry festival in Uganda after which he wrote a poem for her and she put the poem in her book as her way to express her gratitude for his contribution to her growth as a poet.
Pusetso also does motivational speaking in schools where she builds an interest in literature, especially African literature.
She is currently working on a book that she plans on releasing in the near future along with another anthology she is working on through her movement with other upcoming poets.
