A total 41,938 students sat for the 2015 Junior Certificate Examinations but only 26,600 have been admitted. This means only 2,044 of the 28,044 learners who obtained Merit to Grade D failed to transit to senior secondary school education. Among these were 2,002 Back to School candidates, Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) explained.

“Generally the overall results of 2015 JCE are more or less the same as in 2014 across various grades. About 33.4% of the candidates have been awarded grade C or better compared to 34.6% in 2014.

Only one candidate has satisfied the award of Merit in 2015. The proportions of candidates obtaining lower grades D to U have increased from 2012 to 2015,” reads the BEC JCE results report.

In the form four admission, learners are expected to report to their respective schools next Tuesday, while those admitted as boarding students are expected to report on Monday.

However, students who have been admitted at the two new Mahupu and Tsabong Unified Secondary Schools will report on March 8, while boarding students are expected in school on March 7.

Last year’s admissions were released on February 4, and students reported to senior secondary schools they were admitted to on February 17, 2015.
