BLLAHWU members lose Court case

The three are Nicholas Mothelesi (first vice president), Boemo Bato (second vice president) and Baone Seloka (treasurer general). They are now embattled as they have lost the case with costs. Furthermore, they are likely to face disciplinary hearing for taking the union to court disregarding and bypassing its structures.

It is believed that members are up in arms and unhappy with the trio for bringing the name of the union into disrepute through the court matter. “By taking the union to court, the three actually took themselves to Court as they are the leaders of the union. This is against the spirit of good governance where people will sit in a meeting in their official capacity and later use that information to litigate in their personal capacity against the Union,” a BLLAHWU member in good standing said.

Contacted for comment, BLLAHWU President , Thataoyaone Kesebonye said it is unfortunate that the comrades took the union to court and therefore as President he will push for reconciliation in the best interests of the union for its stability, progress and benefit for members.

Meanwhile, there are allegations of third force meddling in the union affairs with the intension to get rid of Motshegwa, and later Kesebonye and deputy secretary general Motshidisi Mafoko for total control of the union in the interests of the third force. Motshegwa who is also the deputy secretary general of Botswana Federation of Public Private Parastatals Sectors Unions (BOFEPUSU) has been the face of labour movement articulating workers issues in public service and private sector against employers.

Historically and currently BLLAHWU has been and is a militant union that give sleepless nights to government. For instance, currently the union is litigating against government over deferment of salary increment.
