One could not believe that the contest was for women of the age 40 and above as the contestants looked younger and vibrant.
Charity Golebang was crowned the first princess and 40-year-old Catherine Seipato became the second princess.
A team of adjudicators, amongst them banned sprinter, Amantle Montsho had a tough assignment as all contestants displayed great talent in all categories.
The contestants were also tasked with choosing a career, which they thought would display women’s strength and convey a performance of such a career.
Matsake, chose to represent women who have ventured into law practice. She walked through the stage clad in an attorney’s attire displaying how women advocate for human rights in the courts of law. The first princess, Golebang chose to represent women in the military. In her military combat uniform, Golebang lucratively and energetically rolled over the podium with play guns to display the duty women in the military execute. Golebang was awarded overall best career display outperforming 13 other contestants who portrayed women in careers ranging from aviation to nursing.
Second princess, Seipato on the other hand, represented women in fashion design. The event, which was thronged by hundreds of revellers was dominated by a vibrant youthful audience amongst them well known local acts including Magdelene ‘Charma Gal’ Lesolebe and Tumediso ‘Shanti-Lo’ Loeto.
The two acts, however, took a break from the stage and joined the audience dancing to their tunes. It was a clash at the top when four contestants qualified for the top three. There was a tie between two of the contestants. To eliminate one the adjudicators had to question the contestants.
Tebogo Molatlhegi, 45, fell victim to the elimination process after a series of questions.
Dinoh Bakgaleng, 42, scooped Miss Personality award in recognition of her efforts in working with her community to improve lives. Started in 2008, Miss Millenium annual beauty contest has seen seven women crowned so far.
