There are reports Sebego and Ookeditse Malesu face the chop from the presidential race.

Sebego has now demanded that the Elections Committee sets the record straight.

In a leaked letter addressed to BFA chief executive officer, Mfolo Mfolo and copied to president, Maclean Letshwiti and Malesu, a seething Sebego wanted to know the validity of the reports.

'I am sure that you have come across news items both in the mainstream media and social media about the vetting process. Specifically, there is reference to the vetting out of both Mr Malesu from the BFA Presidential candidature. Whilst it is my wish to respect the sanctity of the electoral process and the independent nature of the committee, I find the reports disturbing and question the integrity of this important committee of the BFA,' Sebego wrote.

He said he had received information from a football administrator in Francistown, who had informed him he would be vetted out.

Sebego questioned the handling of the vetting process, arguing it was porous, and its integrity compromised.

He said the accusations were damaging to his name and called upon the committee to either deny or confirm the reports, '…to enable me to explore the legal remedies available to my person under the circumstances.'

The committee reportedly distanced itself from the reports, and assured Sebego of its impartiality.

The Elections Committee is expected to deliver its verdict on the vetting exercise this week. BFA holds elections to choose a new committee on August 8, 2020.
