Own Goals Sink Sankoyo

It was BDF XI’s second successive win after their 7-1 demolition of Motlakase the previous week while Sankoyo registered a second loss on the trot after a 4-0 loss to Township Rollers.
The rejuvenated visitors mounted early pressure, forcing defender Refilwe Senyane to concede an own goal as early as the 4th minute. Both teams played aerially, with defenders most of the time bypassing their midfield. Sankoyo equalised after 24 minutes through their leading scorer, Gosaitse Manuel after he was gifted with a stray ball.
Manuel burst forward and released a powerful shot to beat Ontiretse Gaothobogwe between the sticks. After the goal, BDF XI surged forward in search of a lead with marksman Patrick Kaunda a constant menace to the erratic Sankoyo defence.
In the 32nd minute Sankoyo goalkeeper, Karabo Ramatlapeng committed a costly error moving miles from his goals trying to defend against an attacking Kaunda. The young goalkeeper could only manage to send the ball straight to Khumbulani Madziba to give BDF XI the lead going into the half-time break. In the second half, Sankoyo made changes as they chased the game but it was not to be. Manuel and substitute Botshelo Mafoko ballooned two glorious chances. BDF XI sealed victory from another own goal from defender Thopho Motheng in the 89th minute.
BDF XI coach, Beston Chambeshi praised his team saying they are playing good football. He said although Sankoyo goalkeeper conceded very easily, he was happy that his players created and took the chances. He said they want to finish in the best position at the end of the campaign. Sankoyo coach, Gadimang Tiiso blamed lack of experience from his young lads for the loss. He said their two consecutive losses were a result of unnecessary mistakes at the back. He said they failed to replace players who left the club in December adding they have to battle with what they have.
