He acts as a young woman in all of his videos and many people do not know that Troy is male because he brilliantly executes his roles.

In his stories, he always provokes people even though he fails to defend himself. The 20-year-old unisex model and actor is known for his catch line ‘Hi Everything’. In most of his videos he plays alongside other characters known as Mmakole by Tshegofatso Kole and Moses Ditshameko who plays Lebuza. Other actresses include Charity Bale and Barona Rhakhudu who use their real names.

“I started shooting my videos in November 2019. I shot a 30 seconds video singing Anafiki’s song Rebabedi and a lot of people responded to it. I then decided to turn it into a comedy. I began shooting videos with my smartphone and posted them on Facebook. Within a month I was trending as Batswana responded to my posts in large numbers,” he proudly told Arts & Culture.

Troy April explained that his inspiration to do comedy started when he decided to share jokes he used to share with his schoolmates when he was still a student. He said his social nature enabled him to make many friends. He added that people (friends and family) also encouraged him to do comedy about things that happens around him. Troy April further explained that his ability to turn reality into action makes him unique.

Even though he has been in the industry for eight months, the creative has 74, 000 likes and 144, 000 followers on his Facebook page called Troy April.

However, just like other young local talents, Troy struggles to find sponsors. He has also not being booked at any comedy event, which makes it hard for young talents like him to use their talent to put bread on their table.

However, he has some few achievements that he takes pride in like having been booked to be an MC at Son of The Soil this year as an MC.  He is also a part of an upcoming local drama led by Joel Keitumele.

The drama is expected to showcase in BTV soon. Ever since he started comedy and modelling, he said his life changed for the better. He said he gained recognition from a lot of people including some local fashion designers who give him gigs to advertise their clothing such as Disang Designs who also sponsor his wardrobe and Rhoda Designs, a media team that shoots his videos. His producer is Thapelo Obotsang. Troy is also a unisex model at Juice Promotions Model Management. He said due to piracy, he would not sell his work on DVDs but rather chose to sell them to television stations and posts on social media.
