Mapetla has cleared the air on recent rumours that he was getting married.

One of those who have been working behind closed doors is Kwaito sensation, Thabo ‘Mapetla’ Ntirang who has dropped a single, which he followed up with a music video. The single titled Thaba Tshweu, is an Afro-pop ditty with a touch of Kwaito produced by Martin Beats. In the song, Mapetla has gone all out to show his singing skills while also throwing in rap lines to urbanise it.

According to Mapetla, the song, which is about someone expressing love to his admirer, shows his versatility as a musician.

“I have always been a versatile artists who doesn’t shy away from taking risks and going out of my comfort zone. I believe that for you to be a top musician, you have to get out of your comfort zone. We are growing, and the way you thought about it was to make music that is mature but also maintain my signature,” said Mapetla.

The video is just a depiction of Setswana way of a wedding celebration. Mapetla said the music video brings nothing but fire to eyesight.

“The video was shot during lockdown period by a young talented man called Bokang Mokalakane of Remmogo Visuals. It was a great experience and for show the video is going to be one of the biggest music videos to come out of this country looking at the fact that it depicts our culture,” he added.

Mapetla, who had taken leave from music until last year, said the single is part of his comeback plan as he is close to releasing an album. He said the amount of time they have taken to work on the album would definitely be reflected by its quality once it is out.

Although on his return he finds the scene dominated by new sounds of Amapiano, the Skhokho hitmaker is certain that he will take over and dominate the airwaves like before.

He also said as a creative artist, he could not shun new sounds, but rather blend in and match the current trends with the old to find a niche that would work for him.

Mapetla also cleared the air on recent rumours that he was getting married.

“There is nothing like that. We were shooting the music video and someone posted the pictures on Facebook unfortunately people misunderstood the whole issue,” he said.
