Disgruntled members directionless Shah

May be they do not like me or my style of doing things. I don’t think my name has been dragged in the mud, it’s just a few people who are disgruntled,” Shah said when quizzed on why he has decided to stick with Rollers despite a certain group being opposed to his presence which has led to internal upheavals.

He said 95 percent of the members have shown faith in him and he cannot abandon the club “just because of a few disgruntled members.”

Shah, who is credited with turning around the fortunes of the club and instilling a sense of professionalism, said if he left Rollers, the project would collapse.

“I am helping them. If I don’t help, it is going to collapse. The other corner has no plan or direction. I don’t have a problem even if they go to court. I have always said I am prepared to go, but it would be bad to dump the 95 percent that supports me. That is why I am hanging on,” Shah told Mmegi Sport. He said if the rival group had a plan, he would be prepared to quit. Rollers has been torn apart by internecine boardroom fights over the past three seasons.

Some members contested a new model where the club was run by a holding company, Township Holdings, arguing instead the Society should be in charge as per the constitution. They escalated the matter to the High Court and prevailed. Rollers was forced to seek ways to accommodate an investor and a pro-Shah group won during last month’s elections. Most thought this signaled the beginning of a peaceful transition, but the rival group has made its intentions to return to court clear as it argues Shah was in contempt of court by continually assisting the club.
