The BFA holds an elective general assembly between July and August and Sebego is seeking a second and ‘final’ term. Sebego said it is always difficult to prepare for an unknown opponent, even in a game of football.

“It (the absence of an opponent) does affect my campaign, but I am not worried. I  have placed my faith on football people who want continuity.

I have always said I want two terms and I would be done,” Sebego said, when asked if the absence of a challenge less than five months before the poll was affecting his campaign.

He said he is prepared to engage critics who argue he made wrong decisions during his first term.

“I always hear people say I took wrong decisions. I am eager to engage such people and justify why I took certain decisions. At times I ask them what decision would they have taken themselves but they are not convincing,” Sebego said.

Various potential candidates have been bandied around, but there has been no official confirmation.

Former BFA vice president, Segolame Ramotlhwa, has been mentioned as a potential challenger but he has refused to come out in the open, arguing the current committee should be allowed to focus on running football.

BFA vice president finance, marketing and research, Marshlow Motlogelwa, at one stage was touted as a challenger, but has since decided to contest the vice presidency instead.

Efforts are on-going to convince former Mochudi Centre Chiefs president, MaClean Letshwiti to go toe-to-toe with Sebego.

Reports say Sebego has told close associates that he is prepared to take on any one of the mentioned.

“He has indicated that he does not fear taking on any one of them, be it Ramotlhwa, Motlogelwa or Letshwiti.

In fact, he has said the only person who might make him rethink is IFA development officer, Ashford Mamelodi. But otherwise he is ready for any other challenge and fancies his chances,” the source said. However, a BFA insider privy to latest developments has said an announcement on Sebego’s challenger is imminent.

“Expect an announcement pretty soon, Sebego is in for a shock,” the official said.
