Modise is the son of Rev. Frederick Modise, popularly known to church members as “Moemedi” and “Ntate” who founded the church in 1962 in South Africa. Modise was installed the church bishop in 1998 following his father’s death.

Popularly known for its choir, the International Pentecostal Church Choir (IPCC), the church has its headquarters in Zuurbekom (Silo), west of Johannesburg. The church reportedly has a large following with close to 165 branches throughout South Africa and as far as Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.

It also has a multimillion rands worth of buildings, including a 20,000-seater auditorium and a well-equipped restaurant to feed the multitudes that pilgrimage monthly at Silo to seek healing.

Many of the riches Modise owns were once at the centre of a threat to kill case between him and his sister’s husband. The sister’s husband was alleged to have threatened to kill Modise in 2008, after sending him text messages claiming that his father-in-law, Frederick, had given him and his wife two Mercedes-Benz cars and a share in the millions he had left.
