In a statement Bosetu says In view of recent COVID – 19 surge in our country, the increased rate of local transmissions, the vulnerability of our school environments, as well as the consequent closure of schools within Greater Gaborone, the organisation calls upon government to immediately close all educational institutions while the current spike is being monitored.

Bosetu also urges government to extend the 2020 academic to April 2021 to enable students to adequately cover the syllabus.

The trade union says it has regrettably noted that, the community at large has relaxed in terms of adherence to the basics of the COVID – 19 protocols.

“This has as well contributed towards the spike in the local transmission that has found its way into educational institutions.  We, as a consequence, appeal to members of the public to heighten and tighten up their observance of all the laid down health protocols without fail”.
