Driver of abandoned Toyota Dyna wanted

Tshesebe Police Station commander, superintendent Amos Kekgathetse said on Monday that they received reports   from concerned Butale residents of an abandoned Dyna along the Botswana-Zimbabwe borderline.

He said that when they found the vehicle in question they opened the canopy and found close to 56 different electrical appliances among them flat screen televisions, DVD players, decoders, radios and more.

He added: “We have managed to trace the car’s registration details. The mini-truck is registered under the names of a local company, which is based in Gaborone.”

He also said that they are yet to ascertain the value of goods found in the abandoned mini-truck. The truck was on the Botswana side of the border, but police said that they are unable to state if the truck was destined for Zimbabwe or had just entered Botswana through an ungazetted point.

Kekgathetse added that if they manage to arrest anyone in connection to the incident they might be charged with an offence of failing to declare goods at the border.

Meanwhile, Kekgathetse told Mmegi that they are also investigating a case in which a teacher at Ramoja Junior Secondary School lost goods worth P11,000 after thieves allegedly broke into her house. The alleged thieves are said to have broken into the house to steal the goods among them electrical items.

He said that tracks of the alleged thieves appeared destined for Zimbabwe. He pleaded with the community at large to assist with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
