Tsogwane celebrates with Cuba

Tsogwane said this future would be characterised by active integration and engagement of the Cuban people in global economy. The minister was speaking on the ‘Occasion of the 57th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution and The 39th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between Botswana and Cuba last Friday.

“I note with satisfaction, the commendable efforts by the Government of Cuba, which aims to achieve social inclusion which has heralded a nation devoid of inequalities among citizens and various racial groups including guaranteeing the rights of women and education for all,” said Tsogwane. He said this is an achievement from which the rest of the world can draw lessons, particularly during these challenging times when the world seems to be sliding back into the dark ages characterised by bigotry and prejudice among racial and religious groups.

He said Cuba remains a very strategic and important development partner to Botswana. It has over the years immensely contributed to the development of this country in many fields, particularly the areas of health, sport and human resource development.

For his part the Cuban Ambassador Juan Carlos Arencibia Corrales reiterated the best disposition, political will and commitment of his government in strengthening and further promoting the traditional bonds of friendship and links of cooperation existing between the two governments.

Corrales also took the opportunity to convey and reaffirm the eternal appreciation of the Cuban people and government for the continued support of Botswana.
