Rollers Pull Away After Sankoyo Romp

Popa showed their intentions right from kick off with a Mogogi Gabonamong header ruled out for offside inside the opening two minutes.

It did not take long however for Rollers to find the opener as Jerome Ramatlhakwana scored after a swift counter attack. Sankoyo held their own and responded immediately with Gothata Samuenze forcing a save from Kabelo Dambe. In the 41st minute, Ramatlhakwana’s header was disallowed for an offside. A minute later, the striker almost grabbed his second with a superb run but the goalkeeper saved well.

After the break, Rollers continued with their commanding play, with Ramatlhakwana shaving the crossbar in the 46th minute. Rollers increased their tally in the 56th minute when Tshepho Motlhabankwe’s corner to the back post was headed back by Ramatlhakwana and Otlantshekela Mooketsi found the bottom corner.

Sankoyo could have pulled one back after Ocean Mpofu’s powerful 25 yard free kick was parried back into play by Dambe, but Gosaitse Manuel could not profit as his effort went agonizingly wide.

Ramatlhakwana struck again after 70 minutes pouncing on a loose ball after Mooketsi had whipped in a cross.

Eight minutes later Galabgwe Moyana was on the score, finishing from Motlhabankwe’s pinpoint pass. Moyana’s low drive went through the goalkeeper’s legs.

Rollers coach, Mark Harrison was happy with the win.

“We took too much time to get going in the first half and we gave them too much space,” he said.

“In the second half, we were much better; we pressed harder, took control and we got the rewards.”

Harrison’s Sankoyo counterpart, Gadimang Tiiso conceded they struggled.

 “We struggled to play,” he said. “We were tracking a lot and our boys were just not there. We had a long drive in the morning and fatigue caught up hence we lost shape in the second half.”
