The association ran an advert seeking the provision of legal services from reputable law firms. BFA chief executive officer, Kitso Kemoeng said they are looking to appoint between two and three law firms. “We need a resident legal advisor in addition to a pool of law firms which can assist with legal services. Everyday we are confronted with legal issues and our legal adviser is occupied elsewhere. We need somebody internally, who will also save the association money. The external services will be engaged as and when needed,” he said.

Additionally, the BFA is in the hunt for a marketing company or individual to hold fort in the interim. The BFA marketing and communications officer, Phakamile Kraai left last year.

“We cannot replace Kraai until after the restructuring process. We need an interim arrangement in the meantime. I spend a lot of time on marketing and public relations duties, which is why we would want to engage someone or a company for a maximum period of six months. We have an urgent need,” Kemoeng said.

The third need for the association is a company or person to provide public relations services.

“We want to identify a pool for our activities, for instance directors of ceremonies for our matches and public relations duties for press briefings. We don’t want to keep tendering or advertising and also it would be a transparent process,” Kemoeng said. Meanwhile, Kemoeng said the association’s restructuring exercise is close to conclusion with the consultant expected to present a report at the next National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on February 19. Kemoeng expects the implementation in March.

“The current structure is not fit for purpose. We have to be equal to our needs of football. We need to be FIFA compliant,” he said.
