BNF Must Demand Release Of The Report

But who can blame the BCP elders and the youth for demanding the release of the Gomolemo Motswaledi report when the whole nation is up in arms on the matter.

The report must come out so that political life in Botswana may move forward. We can no longer bury our heads in the sand and pretend that this matter has not put to a halt any progress in Botswana politics.

We are stuck, and nothing else but the report has the strength to pull us from this muddy waters.  Our fellow UDC members have resorted to name calling, insults and promising violence instead of advising our leaders the imperativeness of realising the report.

This unacceptable behaviour is not in line with what we are as a nation. We should forget the politics and forget the money that was collected from unsuspecting public. We should consider instead a sense of expected behaviour. It is also unfortunate that we at the BNF have been taken along in this line of behaviour. This is not the BNF that we have known.

The BNF that raised us was in spirit and existence far away from deceipt.Through study groups we discussed how a country is run and how to engage the people in their own governance to avoid deceit and self-deceit. None of what is happening has been a part of the content of our study groups in building the BNF legacy.

A closer view however shows why we find ourselves at this juncture. I normally desist from seeing our marriage between the BMD as the most form of political pollution the BNF has done to itself but my conduct is swinging to the left.

We find ourselves either having to defend why the Motswaledi report is not being released or why Sidney Pilane should not be welcomed into the BMD.

I have argued before through the same platform that, the BMD is swallowing the BNF and comrades were not kind in their responses. I maintain that this is the case as we find ourselves not doing anything else but defending everything that is of BMD internal affairs. There is nothing that we have defended in more than a year except BMD internal affairs. Some of us will soon just go home and wait for our leaders to return from the duties of the BMD internal affairs so that we may embark on BNF duties. More and more comrades are getting disillusioned and this can stop if we do things the BNF way.

The release of this report will give the BNF a peace of mind and we will be able to do what we are supposed to be doing as the BNF which is propagating the ideals of socialism.

Whilst we are busy handling their internal affairs, the BMD is busy recruiting members as evidenced by recent statement from their Secretary General Gilbert Mangole that they are busy recruiting from the opposition.

A new example is their recruitment of Mma Nasha who has openly said he was recruited by both our president, Comrade Duma Boko and president of the BNF Ndada Gaolathe yet she chose the BMD. In essence we are also recruiting members for the BMD. I amongst the many BNF comrades who are worried only that I speak out.

The BNF has always been steadfast in its demand that public reports should be released.

This should not be an exception. We must walk the talk and in this instance this walking the talk will also redirect this dark cloud taking away our vision as socialist movement.

I am proud that the BCP young Turks are up for the challenge and demanding that the UDC do what is right. We can’t blame them for asking us to do what is right. We can only blame ourselves for insisting on doing things the anti BNF way.

Let us just release the report and deal with the consequences later as is the essence of politics.

A release of this report will help us remember the BNF duties. We were taught criticism and self-criticism; this is the time to apply it.
