Mmegi Sport met Seakanyeng at the first edition of the BTCL IPO roadshows in Mahalapye and he said he is serving a three-month notice after his resignation from the Botswana Defence Force (BDF).

“But I am ready to play again,” he said. He said he is ready to don the famous GU shirt and that he signed a three-year contract, which expires in 2019. He acknowledged it was not an easy decision to quit his job, but remains optimistic of the future. Asked for his views on the new GU coach, Rolo Zapata, Seakanyeng believes the Argentinian would adjust.

“I think he will give everyone an equal chance to impress him,” he said. Since the purported transfer erupted, there has been a lot of debate. Seakanyeng, a soldier by training, could not play for any other team apart from BDF XI, hence the reason to resign from the armed forces when the GU move surfaced.

However, fans have been worried about the impact of the move on his career, particularly that he would spend time on the sidelines. But Seakanyeng does not believe his talent would be affected.

Seakanyeng has been a revelation for the Zebras and would be best remembered for his left footed cross, which saw Tapiwa Gadibolae open the score sheet against Mali in Francistown last November.

Meanwhile, Seakanyeng has been voted the beMOBILE Player of the Month for December.
