Sedimo’s contract comes to an end at a time when the BNSC is undergoing a restructuring exercise, which is expected to be concluded before the end of the year.

Already, names are being bandied about as the Commission ‘looks’ to replace Sedimo with a results-oriented individual.

The outgoing CEO joined at a time when the new BNSC Act came into effect and was tasked with driving change.   His successor is expected to be a fearless person, in a largely unforgiving sport environment.

The BNSC board’s new choice should therefore, be independent minded and someone who does not succumb to the every day pressure they face.

Some of the names that have stared cropping up include those of Botswana National Olympic Committee chief executive officer, Tuelo Serufho and the former BNSC director, sports development-administration, Steve Bothasitse.  Bothasitse is currently the Director-Regional Operations in Kweneng. However, another surprise package might be Botswana Netball Association (BONA) president, Malebo Raditladi.

Raditladi once worked for the BNSC and is the brains behind the Re Ba Bona Ha programme.

She is well versed in sport development and administration. Raditladi currently conducts training courses in netball for Southern African countries including South Africa for international bodies.  The decision rests with BNSC board chairperson, Marumo Morule to appoint the man or woman to propel sport to the next level.
