The accused allegedly took the money in various amounts during different dates between 2011 and 2012 in Francistown, Palapye and Shashemooke. The prosecution says that the accused approached the complainant and told her to give him money, which he was to keep somewhere in order for the money to produce sweat (moisture).
The sweat, the prosecution added, was to be used to cleanse the complainant of bad luck and various ills. The money was to be returned to the complainant afterwards, but the accused never did so.
Chief public prosecutor Gasemotho Pitlagano said investigations into the matter are complete and the state was ready to set trial dates.
Gaolekwe pleaded not guilty to the charges. He also applied that another mention be set so that he can inform his attorney about the new mention date.
Senior Magistrate Thebeetsile Mulalu postponed the matter to February 22, 2016 for a case management conference.
