Iketeng told Mmegi Sport that they had expected to be included in the nominations.

He said they intend to correct the mistakes they made last season when the league starts.

He said despite that complaining would affect their preparations for next season. The BVF vice president, George Keotsenye said nominations were depending on individual players not the best teams.

He said the coaching commission was tasked with collecting nominees’ statistics.  The cash prize is P2,000 for all individual awards except for the top goal scorer who pockets P3,000.

“The commission wanted the best top three players in each category.  Police players are good, but they were not better than players who have been nominated hence being omitted,” said Keotsenye.

He further said there are no nominees for Mascom Top 8 tournament, but the best players, both men and women, would be announced today.

Kutlwano women’s team and the men’s Spiking Stars side dominate the award nominees.

Kutlwano received eight nominations while Stars have six. Kutlwano player, Tebogo Sejewe has been nominated in three categories being best attacker, best service and top scorer.  She would be competing for the best service award against her teammate, Karabo Molefha. Another nominee from Kutlwano is Caroline Rodger for best blocker.

Pauline Moribame is competing for best libero while Sesha Matswiri has been nominated in the best setter category. Their coach, Dopp Popo is competing for best coach against Kabo Ntshinogang of Mafolofolo.

Spiking Stars player, Phemelo Lekoko has picked three nominations for best attacker, best service and top scorer. Kealeboga Mmekwane also from Stars is in the running for top goal scorer award. Bokao Nagafela from the same team has been nominated for best attacker.

The other two players from Stars, who have received nominations, are Molebi Rabosigo (best libero) and Phenyo Thebeng (best setter).

Mafolofolo come second after Kutlwano with five nominations.  Gaoleseletse Gasekgonwe has been nominated in two categories, best attacker and setter.

Her teammate, Kelebogile Mahupela is also under the best setter category. Tsholofelo Retshabile is nominated under best service category.

Kutlwano men’s team received five nominations.  Best service nominee is Tiroyaone Otimile while Meshack Mutambirwa is challenging for best blocker.

Tjiyapo Madeluka has been nominated as best libero while Shadrack Kapeko is under the top scorer category.  Isaac Samuel will battle it out against Selebatso Mabutho for best coach.  The awards are in their ninth year.
