The single, which was produced in South Africa by former Generations actor, Sipho ‘Psyfo’ Ngwenya well-known as Ajax was released last week on different radio stations locally and in South Africa.

The local rapper’s single talks about money in the currency of Rands, “This is a song about the grind, hustling and motivation to make money.”

The 23-year-old Lobatse native said the song celebrates the late Nelson Mandela hence naming it Madibas.

“Mandela had a close relation with Botswana,” he said.

Working with Kwesta and Psyfo on the track is one of Dino Dru’s strategic moves to penetrate the commercial side of Hip Hop since South African rap has been at its best of recent.

“I am not only doing this for myself but I am also putting Botswana rap on the map showing people that we can also do this”.

On how he met up with Kwesta and Psyfo, Dino Dru said that after travelling down south in pursuit of greener pastures he linked up with people who managed to connect him with the two musicians.

“I was supposed to feature Kid X on the track, but we did not agree on certain terms, which eventually led to me working with Kwesta,“ he said.

The video for the song has already been shot, Dino Dru told Showbiz.   It was shot in South Africa and will be released on February 5 on DStv music channels.

Showbiz watched the video prior to the release date and determined the video as high budget due to its HD quality.

Madibas is Dino Dru’s first single from his debut album New Kid On The Block (NKOTB) scheduled for release in August, 2016.

The 15-track album features 11 artists with Motswaki Vic being the only Motswana and the rest being South African artists such as Maggz and Nadia Nakai.

Dino Dru has previously shown interest in investing more in working with quality musicians after he featured veteran rapper, Scar on one of his old song, Le Rice.
