BOFEPUSU presents audited reports for last six years

Presented by Treasurer General Moses Monnatsie, the audited reports indicate  that the status of the accounting records were good, but  observed that BOFEPUSU should strengthen controls.

He told The Monitor on the sidelines of the Palapye meeting that the audit for 2010, 2011, and 2012, had issues, while the audit for the last three years were given the thumbs up.

The challenge to have proper authorisation for all the money coming in or being paid out was also observed, according to Monnatsie, who became the Treasurer General of BOFEPUSU in February last year at their elective congress in Gaborone.

When pressed to comment on the  issue of missing cheques unearthed by the audit, the Treasurer General, said, “ The missing cheque books may be as a result of moving offices because the items just got lost, but no one en-cashed those cheque books. I need to make that clear to you, to avoid any innuendos,” elaborated the Treasurer General.

Further summarising on the audit findings, Monnatsie noted that the audits under review found that the organisation used to operate without some core instruments.

Monnatsie told The Monitor that BOFEPUSU has scheduled a press conference with regard to the audited books tomorrow (Tuesday), where all would be laid bare.

BOFEPUSU’s books had not been audited since inception and the failure to present audited books was among some of the differences indicated by former affiliate BOPEU, and lately Botswana Teachers Union (BTU). V.K Verma & Associates audited the BOFEPUSU books.
