“The eight month long trainees and apprentices programme is open for people with various dance skills be it Kwaito, Hip Hop, Latin or Krump.  You are welcome to come and audition,” said founding member of Mophato Dance Theatre, Andrew Kola.

He added: “This is an initiative that we take every year as a way of helping develop dance in the country.  We will help develop dancers understand dance in an indepth manner, with some performing with us at events locally and internationally”.

Some of the dancers with impressive skills will be recruited into the group after the internship.  “Last year we recruited four dancers through the programme,” he said. Kola openly stated that the internship period is not a walk in the park, as they will undergo intensive development programmes. Mophato Dance Theatre has previously produced top-notch performers such as Kalima Mipata and Lone Motsumi, who are a marvel to watch dance.

The dance troupe has also travelled around the world showcasing their various productions such as Inyaya and Kulema.

Mophato is scheduled to perform at Norway in the year.
