Although police are offering a reward of P50,000 for information leading to an arrest, Broadhurst Police Station Commander, Bonosi Molapisi yesterday said no leads had been generated. Ndiko Malibamba from Nlaphwane village and Bantle Thilly Mampe from Ntlhantlhe, were found dead on June 20 2015, in an incident that shocked residents of the capital city.

Soon after their discovery, reports emerged suggesting that the two had enjoyed a night out celebrating Mampe’s birthday before they met their fate. They had been missing for five days before their bodies were discovered.

“Investigations into the matter are still underway and we are pleading with the public to help the police,” Molapisi said.

Police are also offering P50,000 for information in the murder of Thato Meswele (35) of Lekgwarapana ward in Oodi village.

Meanwhile, the Broadhurst police are also investigating a case of causing death by reckless driving, in which a cyclist died along the Sebele-Phakalane road after being struck by an oncoming motor vehicle. “The cyclist, a 43-year-old man was certified dead upon arrival at the hospital. The driver did not stop at the scene, but we managed to arrest the culprit after information from eye witnesses to the accident,” confirmed Molapisi.

Molapisi further said that the culprit, a 63-year-old Zimbabwean man, was arrested at his home in Phakalane. He says if found guilty, the man may face a charge of causing death by reckless driving, which is liable to a fine and/or prison sentence of not less than five years and not more than 15 years, or both.
