Alleged arsonist says state confuses

Godisang made this complaint when she appeared for the second time at the Broadhurst Magistrate court yesterday. Court was crammed with relatives, friends and the general public who wanted to see for themselves the two women who had torched and killed two sisters, one of them pregnant.

After waiting for the accused for hours, the 26-year-old woman, Godisang appeared in court more agitated than at her last appearance. She told the court that she was confused and sought clarity. She said that she had earlier been rushed to court by investigators who wanted her to turn state witness.

“I do not know what is happening with this case, I am really confused, on Monday I was brought here in court, the police asked that I turn witness.

“They said I should sign a form, now today I am being taken here in court. I was not there when the offence was committed,” Godisang said.

The court also heard yesterday that her co accused, Gwamolamba (38) is out of the country. Gwamolamba is said to be undergoing chemotherapy in South Africa and has not appeared in court since. Prison officials have not yet informed the court about her progress and when she can be expected in court.

The case is set to continue February 1, for another mention. Previously the court learnt how the two accused committed the crime because of jealousy. It is said that Gwamolamba’s soldier boyfriend had impregnated one Tuelo Mokgalo (deceased). Gwamolamba and Godisang allegedly torched and killed Mokgalo and her sister Kgalalelo Tuelo at their home in Block 3.

The sisters were buried at their home village of Thamaga two weeks ago.
