Boitekanelo College Donate Wheelchairs

The institution’s founding Managing Director, Dr Tiro Mampane said they have a commitment towards making the community a much better place for the disadvantaged.

“In our quest to expand the scope of our relationship to include more corporate social responsibility initiatives, we became aware of the shortage of wheelchairs that exist at several clinics and hospitals around the country and this is a response to an identified need by providing the Ministry with 20 wheelchairs,” Dr Mampane said in his remarks.

Boitekanelo College has a long-standing relationship with the Ministry of Health and the rapport created has grown over the years into the current mutually beneficial one for both parties. The college is responsible for training hundreds of students in various auxiliary healthcare fields, thus contributing significantly to the availability of qualified health care human resources in the country. The Ministry of Health, on the other hand has provided a platform for the students from the college to hold their internships and most of them are ultimately absorbed into the health system.

“We have proudly made this gesture in an effort to strengthen the impact our college has in hospitals around Botswana as well as to build on the existing relationship between the College and the Ministry of Health which absorbs students and graduates of the College in their respective fields at various health facilities across the country.

The wheelchairs donation, which took place at Princess Marina Hospital and was received by Dr Nchingane on behalf of the Ministry of Health is to be equally distributed around selected hospitals in country to benefit areas including Kanye, Ramotswa and Mochudi among other hospitals. This is the first CSR effort by the institution during this year and many more are expected as the year progress.
