“I want to become the best female musician in Africa within the next five years,” she said.

The songstress has recently released a house single called Kwenzenjani.

“It's Zulu for ‘what's happening' and it's about a woman who is sick and tired of her cohabiting boyfriend,” Martinez explained. “In the song the woman complains about his boyfriend’s late arrivals at home and his reluctance to marry her.”

She included two bonus songs to accompany her single. The first one is a tribute to a close friend Luvaboi Rano who has since passed away.

In the song Missing you, she featured House Inspectors while in the other song, I wanna party, an electro-dance number, she is accompanied by Santa Bea.

Martinez said she has always been a talented singer from a young age. “During my junior school days I participated in talent shows and I was both a dancer and a choreographer,” she said. She said she won the battle of youngsters competition in senior school and has never looked back since.

Martinez also said she previously released an album Dawn of the wild flowers, but it did not do well because the songs were not mastered and mixed well.

“It (the album) did not receive radio airplay, but I want to release a single before releasing another album later this year,” she said.
