Obligato releases debut album

Obligato also features Original Stars from Gantsi in their new album.

Madumane said they named the album Lefufa, because they want people avoid jealousy as it is the cause of conflicts and misunderstandings. He said it was not an easy task to record the album due to financial constraints, but through the help of God they managed to.

He said the best song is Ko Phikwe, so named to inform and remind Batswana that Selebi Phikwe produces minerals – just like Jwaneng and Orapa.

“The song is already becoming popular especially in Phikwe,” he said. “We get calls from people in Phikwe congratulating us. Some of them even want to us to bring the CD so they could own a copy.”

The album has also been well received in Gantsi and surrounding areas.

Madumane said Obligato’s Kwasa-kwasa was not the usual fast-paced one. The group mixed its beat such that it is slow-paced yet danceable

Obligato is planning a country-wide tour to promote the album. They are also aiming to launch the album in Gantsi in May.
