Variety of models grace World Supermodel auditions

World Supermodel Botswana is a regional pageant and a build up to the international pageant, World Supermodel, which will be held in South Africa from March 12 to 21.
More than 40 aspiring models tried their luck at the auditions.
Models of different heights and sizes showed up with some notable faces that had participated in high profile pageants such as Miss Botswana and Miss Africa Botswana.
As part of the auditions, models paraded in front of a panel of four judges including Nature Inger, Uyapo Ketlogetswe, Sarah Marie and Katlego Kolanyane. Models were required to catwalk in heels with some being told on the spot that they had not made it. Models also submitted their Z cards and portfolios.
There were mixed emotions among the models.
Some were nervous while some were confident on the ramp. The trick was on the catwalk as the judges focused more on that element.
“We have seen a lot of great potential. We are looking for girls who possess unique physical beauty with a height of 1.7 metres and also with a good personality,” said Inger, the chief judge and current World Supermodel crown holder.
She stated that after the first phase of the auditions they will call some of the girls who had made it for interview sessions to access their personalities and intelligence.
World Supermodel Botswana is divided into two sections; an adult section for those aged between 20 and 28 years and teenage pageant for those aged between 16 and 19 years. “For both sections, we need at least 20 models.”
On both sections one model will be selected to represent the country in South Africa in March during the grand finale after battling it out with local models on February 27.
Prior to the regional pageant, there will be a promotional fashion show on February 13 at a venue to be announced.
Winners of the international pageant will have an opportunity of winning a one-year modelling contract with Trump Models in New York City.
