In an interview, the Chief Executive Officer of the records company Golesedi Taylor said the initiative is meant to raise funds to enable the label to take their songs and music videos to world class standard.

“We want our videos to receive air play in international TV stations like Channel O, Trace and MTV,” he said.

He said most of their songs and music videos would have messages to market Botswana indirectly to the world.

“In many of our songs we have embedded message about Botswana like diamonds, tourism and beef,” he said. “We plan to shoot most of music videos in Botswana to showcase the best tourism destinations of Botswana.”

He said there would also be songs for entertainment only and some written in foreign languages.

Taylor said the main reason behind the campaign is that their songs have not been mixed and mastered well as a result of inadequate resources.

“To overcome this setback, we are planning to engage MMX productions in South Africa to do the mixing and mastering of our songs this year,” he said. He said the studio had mastered songs for big names like Zahara, Westlife and Jennifer Hudson.

Taylor said they are requesting donations from Batswana and any amount would be appreciated.

“We are running a 12 months fundraising campaign hence we want people to donate to us anytime before the end of this year,” he said.

Taylor said if their campaign become successful they expect the reputation of Botswana to increase substantially and thereby making Botswana to join South Africa and Nigeria in high ranks of music.
